70+ bikes ready for 6th annual Harding ReCycle

Posted on

We’ve been hard at work repairing and refurbishing bikes the last few months and are finally ready for the 6th annual Harding ReCycle Used Bike Sale and Bicycle Festival tomorrow, May 21, at Harding Elementary School (9am-1pm).

Here are some pics of a couple of classic bikes for sale. One is an Apollo which was one of the earliest mountain bike companies before it was outcompeted by Ritchey and other manufacturers. This model, the “Stone Mtn.,” has been upgraded as an ultimate urban/city bike with a Sturmey Archer 8-speed internal gear hub. All cables/housing and the tires are brand new. The other bike pictured is a Huffy “Sportsman.” These bikes were actually made by Raleigh in the ’60s and distributed by Huffy in the U.S. This one has new tires but otherwise all original parts. Works great except for a little stickiness in the 3-speed hub’s shifting.
